A mock test is a full practice driving test, run as closely as possible to the real thing. We use the kind of roads and junctions around the Colwick test centre, follow the same structure as a real test and mark it the way an examiner would, so you get an honest picture of how ready you are.
What a mock test involves
A mock with us follows the real test as closely as possible, including:
- An eyesight check, reading a number plate from about 20 metres
- A couple of show me, tell me vehicle safety questions
- Around 40 minutes of general and independent driving
- Following a sat nav or road signs, just like the real test
- One reversing manoeuvre, and possibly an emergency stop
- Honest feedback afterwards, marked the way an examiner would
Why a mock test helps
A lot of nerves on test day come from not knowing what to expect. A mock test takes the mystery out of it. It shows you what the real thing feels like, highlights the few areas that still need work, and gives you the confidence that comes from having already done it once. It is one of the best ways to know whether you are genuinely ready to book.
When to take one
A mock works best when you are getting close to test standard, as a check before you book or before a test you already have. If it shows you are ready, you can book with confidence.
